AWARDS & FUNDING:
If you’re not in, you can’t win!

Awards, bursaries and research funding register real success early in your career or training, so don’t miss the chance to leap ahead.
The IHBC’s Annual Gus Astley Student Award, open to anyone on a UK taught course, is awarded each year, and must be the easiest prestigious awards programme to enter. Online submission of current taught coursework is all that is required. Winners receive cash prizes (of up to £400), free places at the IHBC’s conference, as well as other support on request, including guidance on publication. Success here is a great way to further your career.
The IHBC’s student award is offered each year for submissions made on taught courses in the UK, including both under and post-graduate coursework and material submitted within taught elements of NVQs.

The national body of the IHBC offers bursaries to the most deserving members (and, on occasion, applicants for membership) to help them attend the IHBC’s Annual School, the highpoint of the IHBC’s support for sector training and networking. Many of our Branches offer bursaries too, balancing need against numbers of applicants, but please do note that sums are always limited.
Each year our Annual School web site carries guidance on the bursary application process, usually around February. IHBC members are notified of the launch through email alerts on our NewsBlog service, so if you are not a member, monitor our web site closely around then to avail yourself of this opportunity.
ANNUAL SCHOOLS

The IHBC’s Awards etc. page lists Awards, placements, bursaries and scholarships alongside other related opportunities all advertised for free.
The resource is a database of awards notified to us, including bursaries, scholarships, placements etc. As many are annual, or vary only a little from year to year, we do not try to maintain it it by eliminating old material, so be sure to look back through our listing using the search facility to find out about opportunities relevant to you. If the link is out of date, a simple web search should let you know what the current state is.
SEE AWARDS AND OTHER OPPORTUNITIES

Our news service, the IHBC's NewsBlogs, sometimes feature special notices on opportunities for awards, bursaries, placements and the like, so it can be worth keeping an eye on it, or searching the NewsBlog archive. Also, our 'Jobs etc' page can carry paid advertisements for placements.
Joining the IHBC will mean that most of this opportunities will be brought to you digitally, so that’s the simplest way to keep up to date
