TheUrbanGlow understake a wide variety of work for Townscape Heritage Initiatives, Development Management Consultations, Conservation Area Appeals. Andrew's specialisms are new build in historically sensitive areas and setting and significance assessments. His work also includes education and outreach to a wide selection of other parties including communities, schools, universities and the NHS. Andrew is a guest lecturer on the University of York Heritage Protection MA course.

Area Characterisation, Conservation Areas and Historic Area Assessment
TheUrbanGlow provides expert urban design and Historic Area Assessment methodologies to help communities, local authorities and others understand their area and manage its future. Notable projects include the following: The Aireborough Neighbourhood Plan Characterisation, Ellerker Conservation Area Appraisal and Design Guidance and Harden Non Designated Heritage Assets appraisal.  

Significance Assessment of Site Allocations and Development Potential
Experts in historic area assessment in order to either assess the potential of a site for development or to allocate sites on behalf of Local Government. This work typically includes a thorough site assessment, map regression and visit in order to fully understand the impact of development upon designated and non designated heritage assets, including a thorough understanding and assessment of setting.

Urban Design and Heritage Support
TheUrbanGlow undertakes supporting heritage and design roles for various public and private sector clients. Such work typically involves a thoroughly researched heritage assessment, utilising archival and HER sources as necessary, and the drawing up of heritage led concept designs. Often this work will be produced within a formal Heritage and Design Statement for submission for full Planning Approval or Listed Building Consent. We are also happy to discuss any particular issues you may have.
