Birchinley Hall

Birchinley Hall is a Grade II* former medieval hall with its history dating back to the 15th century. The building was derelict and on the national list of buildings at risk. The building is also located within the Greater Manchester green belt. My input was to provide specialist heritage planning advice to secure an enabling development proposal covering the susbstaital conservation deficit and to provide design advice on the setting and impact of the new enabling development upon the setting againt the Hall. Following the receipt of planning permission and LBC for wholesale refusbishment of the Hall. Townscape was retained to oversee the works.

Heritage Assessment and Urban Design appraisal.

Townscape: Town Planning & Heritage Consultant London are pleased to have helped secure planning permission for this 5 storey residential development in Tooting, London. We at Townscape acted as heritage consultant within the design team. We provided a detailed heritage assessment including statement of significance and heritage impact assessment in relation to the new build and the proposed designed new buildings impact upon adjacent listed buildings and conservation area.
In addition, Townscape provided urban design advice to justify a 5 story building in a restricted height area. We at Townscape concluded that the scheme will result in no harm and less than significant impact upon heritage assets and our view was supported by Council Officer. Wandsworth Council gave the planning application full support and commented on the overall design and how the scheme has been well informed to minimise its input on heritage assets.



Crickhowell & LLangattock Conservation Area Appraisal

Townscape successfully caried out a number of conservation area appraisals. BBNPA were concerned that lack of historical/heritage evidence to support their emerging local plan would result in unplanned speculative development. Townscape underttok a wide ranging conservation area appraisalwith the full involvement of local residents and community groups.
