Delegates travelling from South Yorkshire and the East may wish to take the opportunity to arrive in Carlisle on the Settle-Carlisle Railway, claimed to be Britain’s longest Conservation Area.
By Air
Newcastle International Airport - 55 miles (approx 1hr 15 mins drive). There is a direct link from the airport to Newcastle Central Station, taking less than 30 minutes. Newcastle to Carlisle by train takes approximately 1hr 30 minutes.
Manchester Airport - 127 miles (approx. 2 hrs drive). 2hrs 15 mins by train (some direct trains are available).
By Coach
Carlisle’s Lonsdale Street Bus Station is no more than a 10 minute walk away from the hotel.

Travel from North (J44, M6 & A7) and West (A595)
Follow signs to the City Centre and from Hardwick Circus round about follow signs for the Railway Station through the one way system. At the traffic lights immediately before the Railway Station, turn right into English Street and continue straight on between the twin round towers of the Citadel, taking the left-hand lane (one-way system) to the next traffic lights. Turn left at the lights, then a sharp right into Blackfriars Street (between Dickinsons furniture store and Natwest Bank). The hotel car park and rear entrance is at the end of Blackfriars Street. There is a bell to the right-hand side of the car park gates.
Travel from East (A69)
Follow signs to the City Centre and the Railway Station through the one way system. At the traffic lights immediately before the Railway Station, turn right into English Street and continue straight on between the twin round towers of the Citadel, taking the left-hand lane (one-way system) to the next traffic lights. Turn left at the lights, then a sharp right into Blackfriars Street (between Dickinsons furniture store and Natwest Bank). The hotel car park and rear entrance is at the end of Blackfriars Street. Exit at junction 42, take the A6 into the city centre (approximately 2 Miles), taking the left-hand lane through the traffic lights at the railway station. Continue to travel straight ahead in the left hand lane between the twin round towers of the Citadel into English Street to the next traffic lights. Turn left at the lights, then a sharp right into Blackfriars Street (between Dickinsons furniture store and Natwest Bank). The hotel car park and rear entrance is at the end of Blackfriars Street. There is a bell to the right-hand side of the car park gates.
Car Parking
The hotel car park accommodates 40 vehicles and is free to use for residential guests of the hotel only.
Additional pay parking is available nearby, see Link below. NB. the City Council operates a Disc Zone parking system for on-street parking.
