PRESIDENT
Trefor Thorpe
Before his retirement in February 2011 Trefor Thorpe was Chief Architect at Cadw. During a 23 year career with the Welsh Government's historic environment service he held the previous post of Senior Architect responsible at various times for conservation and development projects at monuments in State care and also advice relating to historic building grant and control casework, etc. Prior to joining Cadw he was a local planning authority conservation architect in Carmarthen, West Wales, where he still resides.

Jo Evans
CHAIR
Jo Evans is the Chair of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation and is a historic buildings consultant working for two local authorities as well as numerous and wide-ranging private clients. She was in local government conservation for 12 years at Brighton and Guildford but left in 2000 when her second child was born. She has been on the committee of the South East branch for many years, first as the treasurer and latterly as the branch's membership secretary.

Sheila Stones
VICE CHAIR
Sheila Stones has been Historic Buildings and Areas Advisor with English Heritage since 2000. Prior to this she was Senior Conservation Officer with Salford Council for eight years. She was Chair of the IHBC North West
branch and is currently Secretary of the London branch and a main organiser of its annual day conferences. She originally trained as a planner and worked in both private practice and local government in the Midlands before specialising in conservation.

Eddie Booth
SECRETARY
Eddie Booth
was IHBC Chair from 2001 to 2004. He is a director of The Conservation Studio and was previously a historic areas advisor at English Heritage. He is also a trustee of the Woodchester Mansion Trust, a board member of the National Heritage Training Academy (SW), and a member of the design review panel for the Gloucester Heritage Urban Regeneration Company.

Richard Morrice

TREASURER
Dr Richard Morrice, an architectural historian, has been an Inspector of Historic Buildings at English Heritage/DOE since 1982. He was Projects Officer between 1991 and 1995 and has been Secretary of IHBC since then. He is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of London.

POLICY SECRETARY
Mike Brown is a Chartered Building Surveyor with over 20 years experience of the repair and refurbishment and successful change management of historic buildings and places, both as a practitioner and conservation officer. A consultant heritage and urban design advisor, he is the IHBC's Policy Secretary.




Paul Butler
CHAIR OF MEMBERSHIP AND ETHICS COMMITTEE
Paul Butler, chair membership and ethics committee, is a director of Paul Butler Associates. He read history at Oxford, completed an MPhil in town and country planning at UCL, and a post graduate certificate in architectural history back at Oxford. After nearly 20 years in local government planning departments, latterly with Manchester, he set up his practice in 1992. He is a Trustee of Heritage Works, the Buildings Preservation Trust which grew out of the Ancoats BPT. He was on the executive committee of the IHBC in the North West for some years and has been an assessor of candidates for IHBC membership.

David McDonald

CHAIR OF EDUCATION TRAINING AND STANDARDS COMMITTEE
David McDonald
is a heritage consultant, specialising in training other built environment professionals. He was, until late 2011 Conservation and Design Team Leader at the Royal Borough Kensington, a post he held for over twenty years. David previously worked as a town planner at the London Borough of Camden during which time he completed the Diploma in Conservation at the Architectural Association. Formerly a member of the Association of Conservation Officers, he joined the IHBC at its inception and has been Chair of its London Branch since 2004.

Charles Strang

Charles Strang
is a chartered architect and planner. He studied architecture and urban and regional planning at Strathclyde University. He worked for 14 years in local government before joining
National Trust for Scotland as Head of Planning, later becoming Director of Buildings and Gardens. He is now a sole practitioner specialising in conservation architecture and planning, the convenor of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland conservation committee, and a trustee of the Sir Patrick Geddes Memorial Trust.
