The Garrison Chapel inside the walls of the former Royal Naval Dockyard at Pembroke Dock was designed by the naval architect George Ledwell Taylor in 1830 as the centre piece of a formal layout of naval officers’ accommodation. Thought to be the only surviving Georgian classical church in South Wales the building and surroundings had fallen into a state of extensive dereliction. Following compulsory purchase by Pembrokeshire County Council the building has been largely restored. This was one of Pembroke Docks major THI schemes, which benefits from the financial support of the HLF, Cadw Welsh Historic Monuments, the Welsh Development Agency and the County Council.
